FATCA is a US law that requires financial institutions worldwide to identify and report on accounts held by US taxpayers. CRS is the OECD's global standard for automatic exchange of financial account information between 100+ countries. Both require financial institutions to classify clients, conduct due diligence, and submit regulatory reports. Most institutions must comply with both simultaneously.

CARF (Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework) is the OECD's new standard for automatic exchange of information about crypto-asset transactions. It is expected to take effect for reporting in 2027 in most adopting jurisdictions. Crypto exchanges, brokers, and wallet providers that handle transactions for clients in participating countries will be required to report. If your institution operates in the crypto space, the time to start preparing is now — the implementation work is substantial.
